Acrylic Dragon

Acrylic Dragon

Luna Nicol

It always amazes me when a project goes together as well as this one, and I can't be more proud of the outcome. This was one of the first larger scale items I made on our laser cutter, and it is a display piece for shows to show what we can do, or at least could at the time. This dragon measure almost 12 inches square by 1 inch deep and is fairly sturdy.

Each layer was cut out of acrylic in progressive steps to create the layered effect that comes off great on camera and even better in person. The green acrylics used for the wings is even slightly translucent, allowing light to pass through and create a glowing effect if placed right.

While an art piece such as this is not something I create too often, when they come out as well as this one has, it's hard to complain.
